WHY?
Students need to continue wanting to learn, they need to be engaged in their education, therefore, we have to continue feeding that love of learning and what better way than by using technology to engage them!
In my classroom, I use a smart-board and my students all want to participate in each lesson, because they want to come up to the smart-board. The participation level and interest in my classroom is extremely high and I absolutely love it! The students want to learn and I want to teach them and having the opportunity of using technology to make this possible is the key to a win-win situation and atmosphere!
VS. 
I did not have the same experience when I was in grade school and I think that made a big difference in how engaged I was or was not. I wanted to learn, but it was a bit boring in many cases for us students to continue that want to learn and the lack of enthusiasm was not to the teacher's benefit.
